Insights

Insights answers "how are we doing?" for the last 7, 30, 90 or 365 days.

What's on the page

  • Sales: revenue, orders, units and average order value, compared with the previous period of the same length, by day (or by week for 90 and 365 days).
  • Margin: revenue minus cost, for products that have a cost price. If some products have no cost, the card says how much of your sales it covers (e.g. "44.6% on the 26.7% of sales with a cost") rather than guessing.
  • Best sellers and categories by revenue.
  • Dead stock: products you have in stock that haven't sold in 90 days (products added in the last 30 days are left out).
  • Slow movers: products with more than 90 days of stock at the recent selling rate.
  • Stock on hand: units and value at cost and at retail.

Weekly summary

Every Monday morning (from 8am in your business's time zone) SupplySynk emails last week's summary, Monday to Sunday in your time zone:

  • Sales: revenue, orders and items sold, compared with the week before.
  • Top products: the 5 that brought in the most.
  • By channel: in store, Square and your online store, when you sell in more than one place.
  • Marketing: buy-link clicks and the paid orders they brought, once you've made a buy link in Marketing. Their sales are counted like the sales above (net of returns, without tax), so they can differ from the order totals on the Marketing results page.
  • Stock: how many products are low or out, and what to reorder (from the same reorder suggestions as Purchasing → Reorder).
  • Not selling: dead stock, by the same rule as below.
  • Suggestions: 2 or 3 short ideas written by AI from those figures and your business profile. The AI only sees the figures in the summary, and any sentence with a number that isn't in them is left out. When the AI isn't available, you get plain suggestions from the figures instead.

Who gets it: owners and admins, unless they turn it off; managers who turn it on. Staff and viewers don't. Change yours in Settings → Notifications, or use Unsubscribe at the bottom of the email (no sign-in needed). It goes out once per week, even if you're in several businesses (one per business).

View in SupplySynk opens Insights → Weekly summary, which shows the same figures as the email, lets you pick an earlier week, and has this week's ideas below. Everyone in the business can open it; no costs or margins are in it. Each week is kept as it was when it was made (stock and ideas "as of" that day). Earlier weeks are there once they've been emailed; a week from before the summary existed shows "No summary for this week". If an email can't be delivered to anyone, SupplySynk tries again later (up to 3 times).

At most 5 of each kind show. Create post draft makes a draft in Marketing with the product's photo and a buy link for each network; nothing is posted. Who can click what: reorder drafts, pins and descriptions need a manager or above; post drafts need staff or above. Everyone can see the list. The reorder draft doesn't change stock until you send the purchase order; if the product has no preferred supplier, or is already on a draft from that supplier, it says so.

What counts as a sale

Orders that are paid or partly paid and not cancelled, after returns and discounts, in your business's time zone. Square sales are included once Square is connected.

Costs, margins and stock value at cost are shown to staff and above; viewers don't see them.

Reports

Reports has more detail on the same numbers. They use the same rules as this page, so the counts agree:

  • Inventory Aging: one row per product you have in stock (a product at two locations is one row). Days without a sale counts from the last sale; a product that has never sold counts from the day it was added, and its Last Sale says "Never (added …)". Products are grouped into 0-30, 31-60, 61-90, 91-180 and 180+ days, as shares of stock value at cost (or of units when no product has a cost price).
  • Product Performance: best and worst sellers in the period. The Dead Stock card and tab show the same list: in stock, no sale in 90 days, and added more than 30 days ago.
  • Stock Balances: the summary counts your products (the same total as the Products page, archived products left out) and how many are in stock. By Location counts the products in stock at each location, so a product kept at two locations is counted at both.
  • Sales Progress: Sales vs Target on the Reports page opens it with Compare on.

Money in reports is shown exactly ($46,912.30, not $46.9K), in your business's currency (₹46,912.30 for a business in India, with lakh and crore grouping: ₹12,34,567.00). For a business in India, This year in date ranges means the financial year, April to March (shown as "This FY (FY 2026-27)").

AI Insights

AI Insights lists things worth a look: low and out-of-stock products, customers who haven't ordered in a while, risky suppliers (the same risk score as the Suppliers page, from late and overdue purchase orders; see Purchasing), and setup gaps such as products with no stock or prices at or below cost.

Managers, admins and owners can click Refresh Insights to check again. It takes a few seconds; a message says how many insights were added, or that there's nothing new. An insight that's still open isn't added twice. If the AI isn't available, you still get the plain checks. Mark an insight done with Take Action or Dismiss. Insights about prices and margins are hidden from viewers.
